Czech Republic imposes sanctions against Patriarch Kirill for supporting Russian aggression


On April 26, the Czech Republic imposed sanctions against the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), Patriarch Kirill (Vladimir Gundyaev), in connection with his support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Informs Freedom Matrix. This is stated on the official website of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is noted that Patriarch Kirill is a longtime associate of Vladimir Putin, and through his actions actively supports Russian aggression in Ukraine.

"In particular, he uses his position as primate of the Orthodox Church to provide a religious justification and explanation for Russian aggression through his sermons and public speeches," the Czech Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the department notes that Patriarch Kirill has repeatedly blessed the Russian military and supported their actions, assuring that they are going "in the right direction." Sanctions from the Czech Republic include a ban on entry into the country, as well as the blocking of assets and a ban on conducting financial transactions through Czech structures.
