EU says Russia shows "complete disrespect" for peace talks with US

European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper has stated that with its daily attacks on the territory of Ukraine, which have already killed and continue to kill dozens of civilians, Russia shows complete disrespect for peace talks and a lack of interest in them. European Pravda reports.

European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper stressed at a briefing in Brussels that Russia has no interest in the effectiveness of peace talks and demonstrates a lack of respect for them by attacking Ukraine and its people.

"Now, when it comes to the actions that Russia is showing every day, including with the recent attacks that have killed at least 20 civilians, and as you said, 9 children included, Russia is showing a total disrespect for the talks. And it shows every day that it has zero interest to pursue this," Hipper said.

She added that it is crucial "to ensure that we have a ceasefire, that we have just a long-lasting and comprehensive peace".

"But we cannot be naïve when we deal with Putin and when we see his murderous attacks on a daily basis," she pointed out.

Nevertheless, the European Commission said that it is "very important" to carry on with the peace talks.

"But the outcome of these peace talks must be a strengthened Ukraine, because Putin does not respect weakness. And this is why we need to put Ukraine in a position of strength. This is why we have committed to increase our defence support, our capabilities in this regard," Hipper stressed.
