Ukrainian troops are building a defence line along the dominant heights in the Russian Federation. The enemy continues to attack Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Oleshnya and Guyevo in the Kursk region.
Censor.NET editor-in-chief Yurii Butusov wrote about this on Facebook, commenting on the situation in Kursk region as of 1 am on 19 March. Censor.NET informs.
"Heavy fighting is going on, the enemy continues to maintain a significant advantage in the number of infantry and drones, in the number of air and missile strikes. However, the defence of Ukrainian troops has been significantly strengthened after the withdrawal from Sudzha - the front line has shrunk, our firepower and drones can again operate effectively, as the enemy is no longer able to control our combat formations in their entirety," he said.
The Russian command, according to the prisoners, has set a goal to capture the entire territory of the Ukrainian sanitary zone in the Kursk region in these last ten days of March. Therefore, the attacks will intensify, and the Russians are currently regrouping to launch an offensive along the entire Kursk front.
According to Butusov, the Russians have not made any deep incursions into Ukrainian territory so far. Several small groups of infantry entered the territory of Ukraine up to three kilometres near the village of Basivka, Sumy region, which is located near the border. The advance has been stopped, the enemy has been hit with precision strikes, and the enemy is not building up its forces at the moment.
"The Ukrainian command is conducting an active manoeuvre defence, the troops are supplied with ammunition, and the control and interaction of UAV units is gradually improving. Every effort is being made to hold an important operational line on the border.
The city of Sumy will not be threatened by a ground offensive in the near future, there are enough of our combat-ready troops in the area, who inflict heavy losses on the Russians every day," Butusov concludes.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Kursk operation had achieved its main goal of pulling back a significant part of Russian troops from the Pokrovsk and Kharkiv directions. Later, the head of state added that the operation in the Kursk region was continuing. There is no encirclement of our troops.
Subsequently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published a map of the fighting in Kursk region, which shows that the Defence Forces are currently outside of Sudzha.
