Kuleba held three-hour talks with Chinese Foreign Minister

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held more than three hours of talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in the Chinese city of Guangzhou on Wednesday, which Kyiv described as a multi-day trip to discuss ways to achieve a "just peace" in the war waged by Russia against Ukraine, UNN reports citing Reuters.

Details

Dmytro Kuleba is the highest-ranking Ukrainian official to visit China since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which Beijing has not publicly condemned.

"The negotiations have just ended. In total, they lasted more than three hours, longer than planned. It was a very deep and concrete conversation," a Ukrainian source in the delegation told Reuters.

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Kuleba said he expected "thorough and substantive negotiations on bilateral relations, the international agenda and, most importantly, the path to peace.

"I am convinced that a just peace in Ukraine is in China's strategic interests, and China's role as a global power is important," he said.
