Will the land corridor through Latvia work, — said Serhii Labaziuk

Will the land corridor through Latvia work, — said Serhii Labaziuk, the member of the Agrarian Policy Committee

This is a good alternative for Ukraine and is many times cheaper than transport by road. Informs Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The main advantage is containerised transport, which simplifies transshipment. This is where our draft law No. 8025, which was registered in 2022, becomes particularly relevant. It is aimed at financing the export of Ukrainian agricultural products, including the purchase of grain containers. So, together with our colleagues, we must step up our work.

The new corridor has been successfully tested, with the delivery of more than 1400 tonnes of grain in 17 days. The cargo is already in Riga.

Therefore, if everything goes well, we will be able to transport approximately 500,000 to 1 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain by rail through Latvia in a year.

And this is a pretty good indicator in the context of the sea blockade.
